Two Terms with the TSHL Foundation Board

Albert C. Campbell holds a Doctorate Degree in Adult & Occupational Education, Arizona State university; M.A. in Social Science, Western State College of Colorado and B.S. in business administration, Fort Hays Kansas State. He has completed post-doctoral work at Texas A&M, Kansas State and Florida State.

Campbell began his working career as Manager, Chamber of Commerce, Gunnison, Colorado after serving 11 months in Korea, l951-1952. He then purchased a Furniture and Appliance Business and served for a time as Police Magistrate and Justice of the Peace.

In 1963 he entered the field of Education after a short stint with the U. S. Forest Service. His career in education included Carlsbad, NM High School, Arizona State Hospital, Arizona Job Colleges and Texas Department of Criminal Justice. Professorships in Higher education included: New Mexico Military, New Mexico State Univ., Arizona State Univ., Kansas State Univ. and Texas A&M. Currently, he manages The Querida Ranches of Hearne and Bryan Texas.

As a member of the AARP State Leadership Council, he was instrumental in starting the first AARP Day Celebration in Texas. He was President of the National Commission on Adult Basic Education and held various State and District offices in the Texas Retired Teachers Association, Lions International, RSVP and a State Trainer for AARP’s Driver Safety Program. Currently he serves as Chair of the Brazos Valley Area on Aging Citizens Advisory Council.

His special awards include the Lifetime Achievement and Leadership and Professionalism – National Commission on Adult Basic Education; Distinguished Service Award – Texas Retired Teachers Association; and Outstanding Leadership Award, Adult Education Association of the USA. He has served as Texas Delegate to the AARP National Convention. He received the 14th TSHL Members’ Choice and the TSHL Emeritus Awards.

Al is married to Claire and they have 7 children, 16 grandchildren and 24 great grandchildren.
