BETTY JO BROWN, a dynamic woman of service, born to Arthur and Melinda Randon in Brazoria County, Texas. She is seventh of eight children.

Betty is the widow of Hayward Brown after fifty years of marriage. She is a mother of three, grandmother of four and great grandmother of one.

Betty has been a dedicated member of University Christian Church of Houston, Texas for over 50 years. She serves as President of the Church Women United in Houston, and Denominational Representative for the Christian Church Disciples of Christ (DOC).

Betty was elected in 2016 as a Texas Silver-Haired Legislator, representing the Harris County Area Agency on Aging. She enjoys serving and advocating for older Texans in the Harris County Area, where the following services are provided: Care Coordination and Care Givers Support; Emergency Response Services; Health Education and Maintenance; Home Health Information, Nutrition and Long-Term Care Services; Residential Repairs; Respite Care and Transportation.

Betty has a Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education and a Master of Science degree in Education, both from Texas Southern University, Houston, Texas. She retired from The Houston Independent School District after twenty-five years of services.

Betty has received many awards and special recognitions over the years.
