Contact Info:

Hello, I am Hope Fernandez Williams. I was born in Habana, Cuba and immigrated to the United States in 1960. Moved to Texas in 1962 and finished high school in San Antonio, Texas, and became a naturalized United States citizen on August 17, 1970, along with my parents.

I met my husband Michael Williams in Houston and eventually he moved me to his hometown of Kermit in 1980, where I still reside. I have two stepchildren, my stepson lives in Ohio, my stepdaughter is a corporate attorney in Dallas, I have one grandson, a great-granddaughter and another on the way.

I worked for a magazine publishing company featuring antiques and plate collecting, became a tour director, taking groups to Mexico City and surrounding areas, visiting historic sites and antiquities. I then worked for an oilfield contractor, doing payroll, accounts receivables and payables.

In 1975 we opened the Basin Bug Patrol, a pest control company and I joined the operation in 2006, until 2013 when we retired. I tried retirement for about a year, but it wasn’t my cup of tea, so I decided to run for public office.

November 2016 I was elected Winkler County Commissioner and was duly sworn in on January 3, 2017. I served for four years in charge of Precinct 4 which was the County Park with four employees, the Wink Municipal Airport and approximately 20 miles of county roads to look after.  I had an annual budget short of $500,000.  In May 2021 I was elected to the Kermit City Council of District 3, a position I held for two years.

I am involved in my church, I am Vice-President of Silver Bells, a member of the Kermit Lions Club, volunteer at our local library currently assisting teachers in ESL classes, help at our Winkler County Seniors Citizen Center and a Selective Service Board member.
